System with WEB InterfaceA data-handling program (application specific) is continuous uploading data from a large number of mobile units via the Gateway Service and PD 664 GPRS interfaces. Data are stored a central SQL database and a WEB server is accessing the database and generates reports that are available for the users of the system. The reports can be shown by use of a standard WEB browser. New data in the database can also be replicated out to the mobile units. This can e.g. be done as soon as data are ready or as a batch where all mobile units are updated during the night.

Small systemsIn small installations can the P-NET Gateway Service be running on the same PC as the one accessing the mobile / remote stations. This PC will normally be located behind a router/firewall and it will therefore be necessary that a single port in the firewall is opened before the PD 664 GPRS interfaces are able to connect to the service. It may also be necessary to configure the router to port forward of UDP packets sent to the port used by the PD 664 GPRS interface (default 34380). The setting for the port forward must forward to the IP address for the PC that is running the P-NET Gateway Service.
The P-NET Gateway Service is automatically started during the start up of the PC. The PD 664 will attempt to connect to the service with the interval defined in the variable GPRS.TCPClient.ConnectRetryInterval. Factory setting for ConnectRetryInterval is 1 hour and if faster connection is required the interval can be adjusted to e.g. 5 minutes.
